State Aims to Improve Math Skills of Governor

Governor Reynolds is backing a bill to improve the math skills of Iowa students.

Her proposals have been met with enthusiasm, especially by those tasked with trying to correct her math mistakes.

"The Governor is a disaster even at basic arithmetic", said one member of the Legislature.  (The Legislator felt free to criticize the Governor, therefore not a Republican.)

"When the Governor proposed private school vouchers for the current school year, she estimated the cost at 180 million dollars.  The actual bill came in 50 million above that.  Turns out, she's paying the voucher management company twice the price of the original contract."

"Reynolds' drive to reduce the income tax rate is creating a 200 million dollar deficit for the State in the next year.  She proposes using emergency funds to cover her losses."

"Now she's looking at changing the sales tax rate ... working with decimal numbers is tricky.

"Like any student in math class, we've been encouraging her to show her work.
