A petition protesting Governor Kim Reynold's latest executive order has garnered thousands of signatures.
The Governor's order removes protections under state law for ambidextrous people, and Iowa's left-handed see this as a slippery slope that will eventually be extended all non-right-handed people.
"On one hand, Reynolds says she represents all Iowans, but on the other, she is quick to single out a minority group that makes her uncomfortable," said a spokesman for the petitioners.
The Governor's office was quick to issue a rebuttal:
"This is a sinister attempt by the Lefties to make Iowans choose sides. The ambidextrous represent less than 1% of the population in the state, but are always taking state resources with both hands.
"The Governor reminds that the state motto says 'Our Rights We Will Maintain'."

Please remember our audience. Big words like "ambidextrous" are a challenge. Consider using simpler language in future ... maybe like "bi-handed."
